Dear Radio Amateurs,
OM / YL / Clubs / Groups !
The Board of the CWJF GROUP is pleased to inform you that the result of the CQMM DX CONTEST / 2023 is already available on our website ( see at the end of this comment ).
For the third time, we surpassed the important milestone of more than 2,000 LOGs received and we have an audacious objective to be achieved by the year 2025 ( when the contest will be completing its 15th edition ), which is to receive 2,500 LOGs. Who knows in 2024, we can already dream of reaching this fantastic milestone and thus consolidating ourselves as the 5 biggest CW contest in the world.
Congratulations to all 2057 participants from 117 different countries valid according to the updated DXCC list, who sent their LOGs and participated in this contest sponsored by the CWJF GROUP, which was founded in 1985 and is close to completing 40 years dedicated to promoting and encouraging art from the CW.
We are very pleased with the worldwide growth that CQMM DX CONTEST has achieved with each new edition. And all of you who have already participated in our contest one or more times are certainly the reason for our great success. And you who have never participated in our contest, we would like to deserve the honor of your first participation in this great worldwide CW party, which takes place on the third weekend of April.
The CQMM DX CONTEST continues the saga of having several world and continental records being surpassed every year. The 2023 result that we have just released shows that 29 new records were achieved, including 5 new world records and 24 new continental records. All 6 continents had at least 3 new records surpassed. These numbers prove the consistent growth we are achieving in the international community.
In 2023, we reached 420,371 thousand contacts between all participants in the contest ( logs received ) , obtaining a total of 398,393 valid contacts, which represents that 94.8% of the QSOs carried out were scored. You will find more details about the contest in STATISTICS.
As we announce the results of CQMM DX CONTEST / 2023, we would like to congratulate the operators of the LZ5R station, participants in the Multi-operators / ST / AB / HP category, who won first place for the third consecutive time (2021 / 2022 / 2023), in addition to the 5 stations that became world record holders in our contest this year ( KJØD / YT1A / FY5KE / LZ4TX / DL8DYL ) as it is always the highest point that can be reached by a participant. And we would also like to highlight 8 stations that had notable participation, namely:
– P3X ( Opr: Sergey ) : in addition to being world champion this year in the SO / AB / HP category, in a fierce dispute with the DR5X station, it also surpassed its own continental record in this same category, with more than 120% of growth in the final score.
– YW6CQ ( Opr: Mel – YV6BXN ) : he was world champion in the SO / AB / QRP category and by also establishing the new continental record, he managed to surpass the oldest record in South America, which was from 2012).
– FY5KE ( Opr: Laurent – F6FVY ) : in addition to breaking a new world record in the SO / SB / 15M / LP category, with growth of almost 200% compared to the previous record, it now also occupies 2nd place in world records of this category (HP and LP)
– KU2M ( Opr: Peter ) : set a new continental record in the SO / SB / 15M / HP category and surpassed the oldest record in this category in North America, which belonged to the N2MM station since 2015.
– V51MA ( Opr: Mike ) : surpassed the continental record ( AF ) in the SO / SB / 10M / LP category that belonged to the EA8RY station, by more than 450%, demonstrating the potential for points growth that exists between the participating continental stations.
– DL8DYL ( YL – Irina ) : surpassed the previous world record among YL stations by more than 50% and surpassed the 1.5 million points barrier.
– 9A7Z ( Opr: Luka ) : surpassed the continental ( EU ) record in the SO / SB / 15M / HP category by more than 120% and even surpassed the oldest record (2014) that existed on the continent.
– JT1CO ( Opr: Choigonjav ) : set a new continental record in the SO / SB / 10M / HP category and surpassed the oldest record in this category in Asia, which belonged to the station UN9GD since 2012.
The oldest continental record of the CQMM DX CONTEST, achieved in our first contest held in 2011 and which belonged to Jean – 5TØJL ( SK ) in the SO / AB / QRP category, has finally been surpassed and now belongs to the EA8/N9SM station.
The oldest CQMM DX CONTEST world record continues to belong to the SO / SB / 10M / HP category, which was achieved in 2014 and which belongs to the PW2D station ( currently – SM2U ).
Another joy we had this year was having the confirmation, for the second consecutive year, of the new world record for participants in the QRP category, with the receipt of 176 LOGs, which really is an impressive milestone. And we were also able to increase from 26 LOGs received from YL stations in 2022, to a total of 28 YL stations with logs sent in 2023, a growth of 7.7%. We realize that with each new competition held, new QRP stations and new YL stations participate for the first time, which represents another great joy for all of us, organizers and collaborators.
Note: We inform you that D1M is not a valid call sign, therefore all contacts (QSO’s) made with this station were invalidated.
We make a point of thanking once again, with each new publication of the result, the importance of the growing support that we continue to receive from radio amateurs, clubs and groups in our country and also from several other countries located on 6 different continents. Without this support, perhaps we would not have come this far, achieving these successes that are repeated every year.
